Ecological differentiation of the biotopes of Karabi-yaila (Crimean mountains)

Ya.P. Didukh, U.M. Sokolenko
Abstract

Biotope classification of Karabi-yaila based on syntaxonomy of vegetation cover was developed and ecological differentiation of the investigated biotopes was made. Biotopes amount to only 10 types and variants but have high variability due to changes in topography and karst processes. The synphytoindication of ecological factors, their correlation and correspondence with biotope types are presented. This was made using direct and indirect (DCA-analysis) ordination as well as environmental profiling methods. Thus it is shown that the continental climate and humidity climate are related to the amount and distribution of rainfall and correlate with hydroregime and soil aeration, while thermal and cryoclimate have an effect on the chemical properties of soils.
